Soderling battles past Seppi

The top seed was made to work hard before overcoming the Italian 4-6 7-5 7-6 (7-5) in front of his home fans at the clay-court event.

World number 76 Seppi took the first set after snatching a solitary break of serve in the fifth game, however Soderling dug deep to prevail and set up a last four showdown with David Ferrer.

"It's nice to have won without playing well," said Soderling after the match. "At the end I didn't do anything special, he just missed."
